Dear Republicans of Senate District 25,
I’m excited to share the latest updates from our first full State Republican Executive Committee (SREC) meeting of the new biennium, held in Austin from August 1st-3rd. Here’s a brief overview of the key moments and resolutions that will guide our party forward:
Leadership Transitions
Our thoughts are with Chairman Abraham George, who had to leave early due to the passing of his mother. In his absence, National Committeeman Robin Armstrong led the meeting with steady hands.
Speaker of the Texas House: Insights from Rep. Tom Oliverson
Representative Tom Oliverson (HD130) spoke on the critical process of selecting the next Speaker of the Texas House. The goal is to unite our caucus and ensure our choice reflects our party’s values.
Key Resolutions Passed
The Resolutions Committee made significant progress on our conservative agenda all of these resolutions passed with a large majority vote:
Life Wins Elections: Reaffirming our commitment to protecting preborn children.
Protecting Texas Rivers and Streams: Advocating for banning the disposal of aborted remains into public waterways.
Strengthening Our Conservative Platform: Emphasizing the need for a strong platform that reflects Texas values.
Supporting Military and Veterans: Calling for the establishment of Military Partnership Committees, passing.
Holding the U.S. Government Accountable: Advocating for state reimbursement for border defense expenditures.
Reforming the Texas House: Encouraging support for a Speaker selected within the Republican Caucus.
Ensuring Republican Election Judges: Urging Republican judges at all polling locations.
Reaffirming Support for Educational Freedom: Supporting a comprehensive school choice program.
Congratulating AG Ken Paxton: Celebrating his success in securing a $1.4 billion data privacy settlement.
Bylaw Revisions & Standing Rules
The Rules Committee proposed updates to the SREC Bylaws, which were unanimously approved. These changes will ensure smooth operations for the next two years.
Energized for November!
The SREC is fully energized, and our focus is on ensuring a strong Republican turnout in the upcoming elections. Let’s mobilize our voters, secure early votes, and stay vigilant through poll watchers and election workers. Together, we’ll keep Texas red!
The next SREC meeting will be on December 6th and 7th in Austin. If you have resolutions, concerns, or suggestions, please reach out to me at lucytrainortx@gmail.com. It’s an honor to represent you, and I look forward to our continued work together.
Best regards,
Lucy Trainor
